Magnesium Sulphate
Magnesium sulphate is an inorganic salt with a white granular or powder appearance. It occurs in two forms, the anhydrous and hydrated forms. The hydrated forms are heptahydrate which is commonly called Epsom salt, while the monohydrate form is present in the form of a mineral called kieserite. Magnesium sulphate provides rich content of magnesium, thus being used in several industries which need magnesium to improve their industrial productivity. To solve magnesium-deficient cases, magnesium sulphate is commonly used in the agriculture and feed industry which optimum nutrients are needed to obtain desirable high-quality products. We provide magnesium sulphate in different grades, quantities, and packaging for your market and industry solution.
Manufacturing Process
Magnesium sulphate can be obtained naturally or synthetically. Natural magnesium sulphate is obtained from dry lake beds or other natural sources. On the other hand, synthetic magnesium sulphate is obtained through the reaction of magnesium oxide, magnesium carbonate, or precipitated magnesium hydroxide with sulphuric acid.
Ferrous sulphate is dispersed with the magnesium species such as carbonate, oxide, or hydroxide to form a suspension.
Carbon dioxide is introduced into the suspension while maintaining the suspension at 0° to 25 °C for a certain time.
After the carbonation is conducted followed by additional heating, the precipitate and supernatant formed are separated.
The supernatant liquid obtained from the separation process is further evaporated to remove the water content to obtain magnesium sulphate.
Applications
Agriculture
Magnesium sulphate enhanced magnesium and sulphur content in soil by being manufactured as a fertiliser.
Food and Beverage
Magnesium sulphate strengthen the food structure and prevent collapse during food manufacturing on the pectin-contained food.
Animal Feed
Magnesium sulphate plays an important role as an additive to supplement magnesium deficiency in animal feed that poultry or livestock consumed.
